GMIAU has been working with people subject to immigration control for over 25 year. As a voluntary organisation we provide free legal advice, representation and support services to the local community in Greater Manchester and Merseyside.

We have a contract with the Legal Aid Agency and one with Manchester City council. Much of our project work is funded by grant making trusts. Our work would not be possible without the generous support and income that we receive from charitable trusts and foundations.

We are excited to build relationships and work with others who share our vision and are committed to challenging racism, immigration controls, and supporting people who are most affected by the harshness of the immigration and asylum systems.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss how we can work together please contact our Director Denise McDowell at denise@gmiau.org.
