30 years ago, GMIAU was set up by ardent campaigners after lobbying Greater Manchester councils. Originally based in Manchester Town Hall with 4 workers, GMIAU has supported many thousands of people subject to immigration control to achieve settlement and security and fight the barriers of hostile immigration laws, media rhetoric and public perception. GMIAU now employs 23 staff and gives advice and support to over 5000 people each year. As an organisation, GMIAU has stood the test of time and battled against racism, injustice, and cuts to funding including legal aid. Undoubtedly, GMIAU would not be still running if it wasn’t for the support from people like you over the years and we want to ask you to join us in celebrating 30 years of justice, rights and resistance in an evening of performance, music, food, drink and dancing.
