Join us next week in Manchester to show that our city welcomes refugees. GMIAU is demonstrating to show our solidarity with people seeking safety and our opposition to the government’s attack on their rights. We hope as many people as possible will join us.

  • WHERE: St Peter’s Square, Manchester
  • WHEN: Wednesday 10th May, 1-2pm
  • WHAT: A peaceful gathering to demonstrate solidarity

The government’s “Illegal Migration Bill”, which has been dubbed the #RefugeeBanBill and which will destroy the asylum system as we know it, will be going to the House of Lords on the 10th May for its second reading. If this Bill is passed in Westminster it will cause huge suffering, destitution, distress and exploitation in our communities here in Greater Manchester. We must show that we oppose it.

If you want to speak at this gathering about your own work or experience of the asylum system, or if you work with someone who does, please get in touch with rivka@gmiau.org. We hope to see you there.

And if you can’t make it next week, you can still help us share this invite far and wide: retweet this tweet and or share this post with your friends.
