Our Legal Team provides expert immigration and public law advice to people across the North West, guiding them through some of the most complex and life-changing legal processes. Our lawyers represent clients at every level of the legal system, from the First-tier and Upper Tribunals to the Court of Appeal and, when necessary, the Supreme Court. When there is no right of appeal, they use judicial review to challenge unlawful decisions and hold the Home Office to account. Our Public Law team also plays a crucial role in preventing homelessness and destitution.

Our Destitution Team supports people who are forced into homelessness and destitution by their immigration status. Across Greater Manchester and the wider North West, the team supports people who are in crisis: when someone is rough sleeping; facing eviction; fleeing abuse; or a child has been wrongly age assessed and placed in inappropriate accommodation. Several team members are qualified immigration advisers, allowing them to address both immediate emergencies and the underlying immigration issues. 

Our Policy and Campaigns Team exists to challenge hostility, expose injustice, and influence decision-makers for a fairer, more compassionate society. They amplify the voices of people with lived experience of immigration injustice and engage with politicians and government officials. They also carry out evidence-based research and work with the media to show the impact of the hostile policies and laws directed at the people we support. Our policy and campaigns work is in constant dialogue with our legal and support work, shaped by the reality our caseworkers see as well as by the lived experience groups who we support to stand up for their rights. 

Our Operational Team is central to the delivery of our work. It is through their hard work that the rest of our frontline services are able to run smoothly. They ensure that every person who comes to us for support is met with compassion and dignity, whether that is by giving them a warm welcome at reception, or by promptly responding to a person’s request for support.  

Volunteers also play an important role in allowing us to deliver the high-quality service that we provide. We also offer work experience placements for third-year social work students.
