Support for people experiencing domestic abuse

GMIAU has a long-standing history of supporting survivors of domestic abuse and helping them reach a place of safety and security with a resolved immigration status.

We support people who are in the UK on a spouse visa and who are experiencing domestic abuse and need help to leave their situation.

We can help you apply for:

  • the Migrant Victims of Domestic Abuse Concession (MDVAC), to get three months’ status with access to benefits to leave your situation

  • indefinite leave to remain for people who have status in the UK as a dependant and had to leave the relationship due to domestic abuse.

If you are not in the UK as a dependant but you live in the North West and you are experiencing or at risk of domestic abuse, trafficking, forced labour/exploitation or gender-based violence, please fill out our advice form and we will get back to you.

Fill out our referral form and someone will get back to you.
