No Borders in Education
“We need education now. Not tomorrow, not in the future, now.”
For young people seeking safety in the UK on their own, education is of utmost importance. But the Young Leaders, members of the All4One youth group, found that the education system did not always support them to reach their goals.
"We need education now. Not tomorrow, not in the future, now."
The All4One group is a place where young people’s leadership skills can thrive. Based on their experiences, the Young Leaders developed the No Borders In Education campaign.
Their asks
1. Immediate access to full-time education for all.
2. Full-time education with access to a range of subjects so we can follow our passions.
3. Understand that we need support to reach our full potential and make decisions about our future.
4. Understand that we are all different, and arrive with our own skills, talents and qualifications.

The campaign
The Young Leaders have taken their campaign to decision-makers in Greater Manchester and beyond. Some of their work includes:
Sharing their experiences to shape Manchester’s journey to becoming a Local Authority of Sanctuary.
Giving evidence to the Commission on the Integration of Refugees. The Commissioners included several No Borders in Education campaign asks in their final report.
Meeting with staff from their college to speak about their asks and how the college could better support them as individuals.
Public speaking, including at the Northern Race Equality Conference in Bradford, the North West Strategic Migration Partnership’s UASC Conference, Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s Strengthening the Greater Manchester Asylum and Migration Response conference, and the Right to Remain annual conference.
Designing the campaign logo collaboratively.
Developing leadership skills by speaking for the wider All4One group, taking in the group’s perspective, and feeding back on their activities and successes.
As the Young Leaders move into early adulthood and take steps forward in work and education, they continue to inspire the young people who come after them and all of us at GMIAU.
